together~

Slim and I each need our own TV. I like watching TV; but not the same thing over and over again. Slim is so hooked on the western channel. On his days off from work that's what he's watching. I like watching them too... but not a steady diet of it. Also, if I've seen it already; why do I have to watch it again? The other channel he watches is LMN (Lifetime Movie Network). OMG we can't agree on TV at all. I'll watch a few shows with him; but then it's off to the bedroom or basement so I can watch what I want.

I am so much more diversified than he is. I can get all involved watching the food channel as I can watching sit coms or discovery channel, the history channel or a dog gone opera or a soap opera. It drives me nuts... his watching the same programs more than once... okay... more than twice!

But...

We finally found something to watch that we both are enjoying together ... America's Got Talent! I already have my winner picked... the chicken catcher. Go Skinner!!

So what's on the chopping block today; as Mom would ask:

Homemade Pickled Beef Stixs

~~~~~~~~~~
Well... gotta go and bake some oatmeal raisin cookies.
I am trying to healthify our recipes around here since the hubby and I are both diabetics. I'm doing this by using whole grains, less sugar, less carbs more fresh fruits and veggies. Also.... and this is our biggie... portion sizes. Slim isn't even aware of some of the healthy changes I'm making on him when I cook.
We're getting healthier together and he doesn't even know it. LOL He claims that he doesn't like "healthy eating". Bah hum bug to that... I'll show him.
We need to get our A1C's down. Last December I was at 12.6 !!!! That's damn near dead!!!! By February I bought that number down to 8.8 and in June when I was tested I was at 6.5. A normal reading is between 4.0 and 6.0.
My goal.... to be off of insulin within 6 months.
My biggest goal though is to get off of the handfull of heart meds that I have to take every day.
Wish me luck!! Wish us luck!!
Great minds think alike - I was thinking of making Oatmeal Raisin Cookies today too. But I'm still in the "thinking" stage. LOL
I admire your drive of healing thyself. :) Keep up the good work.
it reminds me of a song "Take good care of yourself you belong to me"
